    Great economical helmet

Extremely light and stylish. Fit my head perfectly with the adustable straps. I would buy another. Don’t spend more than $[...] bucks for a bike helmet – get this one!

nice helmet and nice fit. The head size adjustment is easy to use and adjustment of straps is easy as well. The visor is a good size as well.

    Strap Broke
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
The right strap broke so now it doesn’t stay on right. It doesn’t seem like it was constructed well, like it was only super glue that held it in there. Not comforting if I was to be involved in an accident. I would buy another helmet.

Saved my noggin’ and beats the butter out of Bell.

I love this helmet. I actually bought another Indicator almost 3 years ago when I started out riding, and last Fall I was commuting daily to my University about 3 miles away.

First off, the fit feels good. It’s snug, the snap-clip underneath your chin isn’t scratchy or bothersome, and the ratchet in back holds well (and isn’t cheap, like the Bell versions – just look at the two).

The design provides some excellent airflow. A good sign for me was, when I still had short hair, I’d show up with a miniature “3-hawk” that had to be combed or watered down.

More than that, this thing took a beating for me. A mother in a Ford Explorer cut me off one day in heavy traffic while I was going about 30 MPH. With less than 50′ between the Explorer and myself, I hauled on the brakes, endo’d, rolled on the pavement, under the Explorer (she had stopped it by then), and then a trip to the Emergency room.

My left wrist hurt like hell where I had braced myself against her car, I tore the anterior ligaments on my clavicle and my entire right arm dropped about 3-4mm, leaving me with a permanent bump – but my head came out clear as day and without the slightest dent. Looking back, I can see the scuff marks on the helmet itself and the point on the back where it hit the hardest, denting the foam about half an inch in.

    Now I’m back buying another.

    the strap fits funny
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
i’ve only used it a few times, but the strap connection seems to jut against my face. maybe i’m just dumb, but I think it might be poorly designed. other than that, it looks great and I’m sure if i fell on my noggin i’d be alright.

First, the review published 2 months ago by Joel Seguin is totally right on the money regarding the y-straps. The design is not only uncomfortable but distracting and therefore could be dangerous. The helmet that I received is also not particularly well made: it’s functional (I can put it on and buckle it close)but the quality is definitely on the minimum standard level. The Styrofoam while intact has a lot of deep scratch-like indentations and appears to have been peeled of the mold in a haphazard manner w/ numerous thin flaps sticking out. It came w/ 4 extra stick-on pads w/ totally useless double-sided adhesive: you can barely peel it off and once I did get it to peel off it didn’t stay glued to the helmet and fell after a couple of fittings, the adhesives are left on the interior of the helmet waiting for hair and scalp. Also there should be something to cover the holes after one chooses to remove the visor, as they are left irregularly shaped. Sorry but this helmet is just a notch better than those sold at Wlmrt and Trgt stores.

    Great Deal!

The helmet fits my large nogging like a champ!!! It is a high quality helmet for the price. 4 stars because I did have to re-glue some of the pads.

I spent half an hour at a local bike shop trying on different helmets. For some reason the size just didn’t work right, and most of them were pretty expensive. I took a chance with this one and was pleasantly surprised. The fit was perfect. The design was perfect, and the price can’t be beat!

Update: I took away one star because the 2 side straps don’t lay flush against your face.

Been using for a few weeks. Very well built, lots of attention to details. Straps under your chin should have some kind of support/padding to make it more comfortable: the nylon strap is constantly touching your chin/neck region (under your mouth) which can hurt if used for several hours. Extra adhesive padding patches provided should have a stronger adhesive tape attached to it, since it falls easily after being glued to the inside of the helmet to provide a better fit.

Looks good but has one annoying flaw
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I’ve bought 2 of these in the past 6 months for myself and my girlfriend, and while they look fine, the visor is quite poorly constructed. It’s kept in place by 1 peg, which breaks at the slightest impact (dropped mine 2 feet on a pub crawl, her’s came handily prebroken). Nothing some rubber cement can’t fix I guess. Otherwise they fit nicely for the price and are pretty well ventilated. I wear mine about 10 hours a week.

A helmet even MY husband will wear…
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have been trying for 25 years to get my husband to wear a helmet when bicycling (thankfully, we’ve been lucky) Lo and behold, finally a helmet he will wear. Says it’s comfortable and eliminates the “nerd factor”. (Don’t tell him…but the guy NOT wearing the helmet is the nerd!)

    Straps twist against your face.
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I purchased Giro indicator because I like the brand and this model has good reviews. I dismissed the complaints about the straps twisting against your face because I thought that the reviewers must be picky or adjusting them incorrectly. After receiving the helmet in the mail, I can confirm that the straps do in fact twist and lay at an irritating angle against your face. I am in the Marines and used to wearing kevlar helmets made by the lowest bidder so I would not consider myself picky about comfort. In my opinion, the build quality is also slightly less than my wife’s Trek brand helmet which is similarly priced.

Great helmet for a great price!

I just came back from a 50 mile ride with the giro Indicator helmets yesterday and they were great! It’s really light and has excellent ventilation. In fact, my head was cooler with the helmet on rather than off! The style is also attractive as far as helmets go (I got the black one which looks like carbon fiber a bit) and it fits snuggly on my head even without the extra padding that came with it.

    Good Helmet
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is a pretty nice helmet overall.

    Overall – 7/10

    Appearane – 8/10

    Protection – 8/10

    Comfort – 6/10

The helmet does everything it should… Protects my head from crashing… I haven’t crashed yet, so I’m just going off appearance. It looks and feels sturdy enough.

It has an aggressive, satisfying look to it.

It fits on my head nicely, with a rear adjuster to get the helmet to fit snug. The ventilation keeps my head cool. The bad thing about this helmet, though, is the chin straps. As previously mention in other reviews, the straps don’t lay flat against your face like they should. Though this is annoying, it’s not distracting or uncomfortable enough to make this helmet a bad one.

If you’re looking at buying this helmet, I say go for it. It’s affordable, sturdy, cool looking, and comfortable (save the chin straps).

    Good basic helmet
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Well shaped and light helmet. The adjusting dial in the back works very well. However I have 3 remarks about it:

    1) the printed decoration was not centered, set about 1/2 inch to the right, not evident at first sight but noticeable,

    2) additional pads provided had the glue ruined, impossible to remove the back paper to install them,

    3) the adjusting straps get a little twisted in the side of my head, they are not comfortable.

    LOve my Helmet

I got this in Alloy Silver. I really love how it looks. I bike during those hot southern summers and the vents are enough for my head to “breathe”. The visor is also an added bonus for me. It helps with the afternoon/mid afternoon sun. Since buying it, I’ve become quite the fan of Giro helmets. I got one for my husband and I got the Me2 for my baby.

    Lightweight and a Perfect Fit
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The Giro Indicator is remarkably light. I can barely feel its weight on my head when I wear it. The helmet is a snug fit for my head (my head measures 58.5 cm). Although the product description says the helmet is a Universal Fit for adults (54-61 cm), I’d say if your head is larger than 59 cm, the helmet might be a wee bit too tight; I’d recommend that you go for the next size up.

The vents on the helmet are very effective for keeping my head cool. I love its sleek and aerodynamic design, and the Titanium color I’ve chosen for it.

I’m very satisfied with the Giro Indicator helmet overall.

    Good value helmet
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I’ve been using this helmet for 8 months now and it fits great. I use it for my daily bike commute and it is perfect for that. However, ventilation is slightly lacking for more serious cycling and I ordered a new race helmet.

    low-moderate use
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
i don’t ride my bike that often (around once a week for an hour at most, weaving through NYC traffic). haven’t had any problems with the helmet (i don’t even use the stickers that some of the other reviewers complain about – maybe i should :)

overall, for low to moderate use i give it a thumbs up. the only reason i gave it 4 stars is the price – maybe i could have picked up something cheaper, but not dissatisfied with the product itself.
